Put simply, Impact Enterprise Services facilitates the use of a single, centralised Impact database that can be accessed from multiple remote locations and have been designed to address issues relating to network performance that often make such a configuration impractical.

Impact Enterprise Services offers the flexibility, performance, and availability of site or hub databases, together with the centralised management of a single, enterprise database.

Multiple Site Support

The key feature of Impact Enterprise Services is the support for multiple Impact databases within the enterprise, while still offering centralised management and storage of all projects.

Using site or hub databases offers advantages in performance, tolerance to network outages, and the reduction of network traffic.  For smaller sites it is possible to use the free versions of databases, such as Microsoft SQL Server Express or Oracle Express Edition.

Integrated directly into the Impact Browser, Enterprise Services enable designers, managers, and sales teams to perform searches across the complete enterprise locating specific projects or designs.

Once a designer has completed work on a project it is automatically copied into the centralised database.  This not only provides a secure, centralised backup of all projects, but it also facilitates integration with web-based product such as Webcnx, enabling your customers to connect and view information about their designs.

Impact's support for multiple designers working on the same customer project has been extended.  Now designers connected to different databases can work on the same project simultaneously.

Centralised Management

Impact Enterprise Services provides centralised management of all Impact settings, including templates, symbols, design standards, design components, and all master tool settings.  Centralised management reduces the total cost of ownership by eliminating the time your designers or administrators spend deploying new and modified settings.  Centralised management eliminates the issues of designers out-dated settings within customer designs.

Maintain control of your settings within the complete enterprise and generate company specific symbols, standards, templates, design standards, design components, and all master tool settings then quickly distribute them to all sites in the enterprise.  No more manual installation.  Settings are automatically deployed to all site databases ensuring the most up-to-date versions are always available.

Impact Enterprise Services are tightly integrated into the Impact environment using the tools and settings management users are already familiar with.  They simply extend Impact to allow it to operate across multiple database servers.

Performance and Security

Impact Enterprise Services are built using SOAP web services, implemented using the Windows Communication Foundation, featuring the latest web technologies from Microsoft.

The Impact Enterprise Services provide queuing, distribution, and deployment of items within the enterprise.  These services are designed for performance, scalability, and fault tolerance.  If your network is unavailable these services are designed to automatically resume communication once the network is available again.

Your sensitive data remains safe and secure using the latest security, such as SSL security certificates during communication.

Administration Web Site and Remote Support

Impact Enterprise Services includes an administration web site that can be accessed from anywhere in the world.  Using the administration web site you can easibly manage and verify the status of all the servers running within your enterprise.  Arden Software also offers remote support for the Impact Enterprise Services, enabling our engineers to diagnose and fix problems often without requiring an on-site visit.
